Mentioned this to my partner this morning. Her first reaction was, 'I'm going to need a bigger bike, aren't I', to which I could only say 'yes, but we have to get you through your test first'.

Seriously interested for the two of us. PM on it's way.

I really like the sound of the trip, the price isn't my primary concern, the wife is...you know, holidays are for families etc... :blagblah
Anyone got any suggestions as to how I am going to bribe her?

In the mean time can I get an idea of costs? Also is 500 miles your longest stint?
Don't fancy doing some ironbutt challenge if I can avoid it... I would want to enjoy it rather than just travel for travel sake...

Thanks for sending the information through Chris.

Got some serious thinking to do, that is a huge amount of dough to save up over a year and half - but then, this looks to be a pretty amazing life experience.

thanks for the email bilko,im still interested,is a bog standard 77'000 km 02'1150up to the job if it's master is?

Thats under 50K miles.I took my Y2K,72000 miles on clock 1150GS 6500 miles across the US on Chris' last trip.
New tyres and a good service, she'll be right.:thumb

You'll have no bother at all Dave. Like Colins, my 2001 GS started the trip on just over 66,500 miles and finished up on 73,000. With hindsight, had I been sensible and changed my final drive bearing and seal before I left Ireland I too would have had a trouble free run. :thumb2

Hey Sgt Bilko
Interested in the 2012 tour to Alaska.

I will be going that way in 2011 but probably not your route ..on my 2010 GSA.

Live in Vancouver,BC and will touch bases with you later.

Cheers
