Wapping's wanders - One day jaunt for beginners - Calais - 16 April

Can i not come on my sports bike?
Rob

Did you not send me a PM saying you were dropping out as you had decided to get rid of your GS?

I don't have it now as I cleared my mail box out last night.

Never mind, you can come to the ball, Cinders. No problem, at all. See you at the tunnel.

Any questions, PM me.

Cheers

Richard

Early start ?

All,
Rather than having a 4am start I have booked a night at the Holiday Inn Express Folkestone which is apparently a stones throw from the tunnel.

They appear to be very bike friendly and said we could park the bike in front of the reception.

if anybody is of a similar ilk and decides to stay over the night before let me know and we can meet to say hello.

The recce run went OK on Sunday.

There may well be some roadworks on the last leg, which will require a deviation. We shall have to see on the day.

I will lob the final route up when I have a moment.

Final route

I have created the route in Excel, including a change in the last leg to (I hope) miss out some road works.

I will create it in Mapsource, too.

Maps

Guys - I'm in Deauville this Saturday (unfortunately delivering wife's sculptures for an exbo so not on bike :( ), I am going to pick up a road map of Pas De Calais as back-up to the Sat Nav, if anyone wants me to pick up one for them let me know.

Hello Richard,

Just downloaded the route, must have missed it on the thread.
I like it and I like the cafe stops.
Clearly you are still at the top of your game, mrs dxtans thinks so anyway

thanks

All systems go for the weekend.

Just one thing. Could everyone arrive in France with a full tank of petrol, please.

For anyone with a small tank (or simply wanting to re-fill to avoid a stop on in the UK on the way back home) there is fuel about halfway round at Anvin.

It is an automatic station but UK cards do work. In fact they work so well that my card (which had been rejected in the UK earlier in the day) trundled into life in rural France.

Don't suppose anyone has a spare HID main/dipped bulb they could bring along tomorrow?
