My bike has a rim fracture on both wheels and wondered if anyone had experienced this with the OE wheels and what they did to resolve the problem; i.e. welding or replace with an aftermarket rim and who did the job.

I need to get the wheels sorted in the next 10 days, or thereabouts, before I take the bike overseas so any tips on who's good for this would be appreciated. :thumb2

Cast wheels *can* be welded but it is specialist work and not always successful.
Wire spoke wheels are best rebuilt with new (stronger) rims and spokes.

Blimey, a revived thread.

I did get new Excel rims to replace the OEM spoked wheels. Thankfully I found a Geezer to turn them around in a week notwithstanding Excel sending someone elses front and trying to make life difficult.

Here's a picture with the wheels fitted...:D

For stripping down my old wheels and relacing the hubs with HD SS spokes to my new rims was £95 per wheel, I think.

I think the Excel rims where in the region of £240 for the par. I can't remember the details too much, but could check back, because I just needed them sorting ASAP.

What y'got then?
