Picked up a very nice K75S 6 months ago to use as a commuter and a all year round hack. It great, very smooth. I am looking to modify the riding postion buy raising the bars and pulling them nearer me (wider bars would be good to). Going to do some touring on to as might aswell put the miles on it as I,ve heard of them doing 100K+

Any ideas/suggestions would be great.

My 75S has K75C bars. It's a very popular modification. The C bars are the same width and rake as the S bars but a couple of inches higher. It changes the riding position enough without it being too much altered.

The original key/crash pad doesn't fit too well so most people fit the one from the C as well.

You will need to swap the master cylinder to steering-head brake hose but as long as you carefully check the routes of all the other cables you shouldn't need to change these.

Your problem will be finding second-hand ones as it's such a popular modification, they are snapped up quickly.

If you go for anything higher or wider, you'll probably need to alter the cables too.

I went from RS 'bars to 75C 'bars to RT 'bars.
If you go from RS to RT - they'll feel like Ape hangers by comparison :D
Wide is good, i think too. Height not so much :nenau maybe.
I want to try GS 'bars - i suspect ideal for me.* :green gri

*Apologies to Mike! :hide

.

Popular with despatch riders in the old days - i had two customers with over 300K miles on their K75 models.
Both had original their engines, but they had a few gearboxes.

And they both started to use a bit of oil. Fitted a rover 800 oil breather filter and the oil consumtion stopped. :thumb2
The other thing with the K75 models are for some reason wear out alternator cush rubbers far more than the K100 models.
But then the K75 doesn't have a two piece engine output shaft that's rivetted together. It has a one piece shaft, hence the huge engine mileages without any problems.

I tell you what i'm seeing a lot of recently - K series petrol tank corrosion, if they aren't used for regularly the water in the tank sits in the lobe in the bottom of the tank and the ali turns porous.

I used F650 Dakar replicas from Motorworks on my K100. I didn't need to adjust the length of the cables either. :beerjug:
