I got 2 more done today!!

I have an over-nighter planned for April 20th taking in points 11, 17, 18, 19 on the Sat, Staying over in the Kenmare or Killarney general area and probably going to do 15, 16 and 12 on the way home. That'll be The East and The South done for me :cool

If anyone is not going to the Wexford bash and wants to tag along or if they want to suggest a place for staying over and fancy a few pints Sat evening they are more than welcome to join us :thumby:

[FONT=&quot]Set off for the Shay Elliot memorial today. The sunshine was only a ruse - it was bloody baltic up there.

The snow didn't look too bad.

Tested out all the new add ons and nothing fell off!

All went well until about 4k south of the gap. 500 hundred yards after this photo it was 4 wheel drive territory.

That caused quite a decent detour. But it was worth it.

I got the Leinster ones finished today :JB

I left the house at 1030 and headed for Wexford via N/M11 as far as Gorey and the R741 the rest of the way (love that road!!). I got absolutely pissed on once I turned off the motorway but I couldn't put up with any more boring bland motorway miles.

I filled up with fuel in Castlebridge and proceded in a monsoon shower towards #11 Sigginstown Castle near Tacumshin.

I snapped this

and headed for Rosslare Port for a wind-up pic for the Mrs!!

After this I decided to head back to The Pale, via #12 Stroan Fountain

And then headed for home with a half hour coffee stop in Carlow to thaw out. I got home at 1600hrs 250 miles later!

I got soaked, I was cold but I was still glad I was out on the bike :thumby:

Well Lads, I was a busy boy on the bike this weekend! I managed 675 miles in total and got all the Munster Photo points done. :JB

Here's a 'summary' of the weekend...........

I was working Friday night and knocked off at 0900hrs on Sat morning. We had pre arranged a RV point of Applegreen on the Naas Rd near Rathcoole for a 1015 meet and a 1030 departure after a coffee of course

The first point was Kilcooly Abbey in Tipp and we arrived here just before midday.

After this, it was onwards to Waterford on some great roads via Mullinahone and Carrick on Suir for the Suir Bridge photo point and a bit of antisocial behavior in the name of a good photo!!

(The GS was too heavy to lift onto the table :blast

)

Then it was a stop in Waterford for a McDonalds lunch and onwards to Lisgoold, Co Cork via the N25 for the Thach Bar photo point at a fairly 'spirited pace' :green gri

When we arrived at the bar, There was a FULL ON RAVE in progress

With that, the front of the pub was jammed with cars, so this was the best photo that I could manage.

The realization that we were probably going to arrive in Killarney a fair bit later than expected set in, so off we went towards The Beara for the Glanmore Hostel photo point with the best decision of the day, A detour!! We headed as normal for Macroom and turned off just before it onto the R584 to Ballylicky and then via Glengarrif to Adrigole. After this it was up the Gymkhana like part of the Healy pass with a stop at the top for a pic or 2.

We headed over the top to the Kerry side and nabbed the Hostel photo point.....

.. and made a beeline for Killarney via Kenmare and Molls Gap with a quick stop for more photos with the amazing Looscaunagh Lough and the Magillicuddy Reeks in the background.

We rolled into the B&B at 2020hrs and were out the door for a bit of dinner and a few pints by 2100 after a wake/freshen up shower and a change of clothes. We ended up going to a night club and everything and got in the door at 0300 :blast

Breakfast was at 1000 so we were woken up just before this to the dreaded sound of biblical rain pounding off the skylights :tears

We stalled as long as we could and it seemed to brighten up at around 1130 so we bit the bullet and hit the road for the De Valera cottage in Bruree via Kanturk, Buttevant and Charleville. After zero-ing the trip counter on the bike as I was leaving work on the Sat morning, I took this pic just before we left the B&B on Sunday...

We got about 10 miles the far side of Killarney and the heavens opened so by Bruree, in the space of just over an hour, even my Dainese Gore-Tex gear had let in water the rain was that heavy. Anyway on the upside, when we got to the cottage, A man who works with the OPW was at the door of the cottage and let us in for a look around. My gear was so wet I had to leave my mobile phone that I used for all the photos in my pocket fearing getting it water damaged so unfortunately I didn't get any pics inside

But I did get the important one before we left for The Burren.

Thankfully, The weather improved so off for Noughaval we headed via Limerick, The Tunnel and the N/M18 with a stop yet again in a McDonalds, this time in Shannon. After this it was onwards to Ennis, Corrofin and eventually to the photo point after some fantastic Boreens.

Just before we were leaving for home, one of the lads said he'd love a 'Nice cup of tea' in a Mrs Doyle accent so that gave me the brainwave to google the Fr Ted house location and we added a photo point of our own!!

Unfortunately, The R6 didn't agree with this added stop and wouldn't start unassisted as it ran out of electricity, with a suspected reg/rec failure so we bump started it and its fuel injected engine eventually farted and spluttered into life. We got as far as Loughrea and the bike gave up the ghost. We knocked into a house and the owner kindly let us leave the bike in his garage overnight and I took Kyle (R6) home on the back of the Beemer. Mark (a la zx6 on the bench fame), who is also a trusty transit owner and helped me to get my bike from Cork in December, is now on a Yamaha repatriation mission to Galway with Kyle!!

Shortly after I got home and decided to put the bike to bed, I took this pic....

I'd be lying if I said the whole trip was a walk in the park but if I was told I had to leave immediately and do the route again, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

13 down and 11 to go - Now its only Connaught and Ulster left so I'll probably do them at some stage over the summer with a bit of added camping on the cards - weather permitting.

I was out yesterday and did a few more. A nice spin up via The Naul initially.

It was nice, warm and dry. First up was a Two wheel poker point, near Laytown.

Then just up the coast to Mornington for the Ladies Finger. Started raining just before I arrived.

as soon as I left, the rain stopped, so a spin over to Fore.

Tea and cake in the coffee shop, then off for another Poker rally point, near Daingean.

A great day out with only a few minutes rain, 172 miles in total.

Hopefully I might have a stab at the Munster points during the week, and will take in The Healy Pass and Priests leap at the same time.
