On my RT, and the GS before it, there was a socket in the nose area of the bike ready to plug in a Garmin sat nav. This made the installation much easier as the socket was controlled by the can-bus.

Does one exist on the 1200R? I can't see one. (2011 model btw.)

Thanks

Was told by my dealer that the best thing to do was run a cable from the battery.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Mike.

But sack your dealer!!
I didn't really want to run a cable to the battery; it would be powered all the time.

Anyway..... No need.
I've had a rummage about. There is a dedicated socket and it's really easy to get at. Just remove the plastic thing at the front edge of the tank (4 screws), and "lo and behold", there hides the dedicated sat nav power socket :)

Powers up with the ignition, powers off a few minutes after the ignition :beerjug:
