Hi All,

Although I have been a forum member for awhile I am new to the Triumph section. Just P/X'd my F800GS for a Tiger 800. Test rode the 800XC and loved it - great engine. Don't collect the Tiger for another couple of weeks but have a couple of questions.

Warranty - does the Triumph Warranty cover Europe?, (got conflicting advice from dealer). All other new bikes I've had in recent years have all included full European breakdown for the first 2yrs - can't find any info on the Triumph site.

Read through a couple of Triumph Forums and Triumph's reputation regarding warranty claims appears to be a little "suspect". Read through the owners handbook and Triumph's "Warranty Terms & Conditions" for the Tiger and have never seen so many warning notices and disclaimers - must have been written by some Brussels "Elf & Safety" bureaucrat.

Would appreciate any comments from the forum regarding the above and have any of you had any problems with the Tiger 800.

Many Thanks

IIRC you only get a 1 year Breakdown Recovery which includes Mainland Europe

If in doubt give the Warranty Dept at the Hinckley factory a call on Monday on 01455 453128 :thumb2

Warranty Queery

Thanks for that - the dealer seemed to think that the warranty was for 2yrs but breakdown cover under warranty only applied to UK via a 1yr membership of the RAC and that the cover did not apply to Europe.

Will phone Triumph on Monday and post what they say.

Hi, just looked at my Triumph RAC card that came with my Tiger 800XC an it appears you can upgrade to European cover at an additional cost, even gives you a number to phone. UK RAC cover is for one year only, Triumph warranty is two years. Hope that helps.:thumb2

Hi jmh

Yes it's 2yr warranty, 1yr RAC, extendable to Europe with additional payment.

Annoying really as last 2 new bikes, BMW/Honda both came with 2yrs warranty and 2yrs European breakdown cover.

Checked with RAC and 1yrs European breakdown cover is between £130 and £166 depending on countries to be visited.

Currently insured with Carole Nash fully comp on BMW F800GS for £149 including European Breakdown cover so will stick with them for insurance.
