can I use my ipad for any of the above?
I loaded three topo type maps into the netbook to take to Morocco next week so I could plot routes on the go whilst down there. Now the fukkin netbook just went tits up :blast
Any threads from various forums I've read say it's not possible, but just thought I'd check here before I have to splash the cash for a used netbook.

cheers
Millard

Do you have a link Richard?
the only app I can see for Basecamp is some kinda business group sharing thingy, not the Garmin map tool.

I just found this, could this be what you mean?

"There is a BaseCamp Mobile app but it is NOT this BaseCamp. It is a mobile interface to the Garmin fenix watch. Poor Marketing move that they named it BaseCamp"

Bollox.
Got my hopes up then!
Could a jailbroken iPad run bascamp?
Why doesn't it as standard. Software? Hardware?
Ideas anyone

garmin can barely make mapsource and base camp run on a proper computer.

couple that with the likelihood of apple allowing an ipad to connect with a 3rd party sat nav (zero), and i'd ave to say, don't hold you're breath :aidan

fuggit :tears

I've decided to sell the iPad and buy a used macbook.
Gotta get it here by early next week though. Trawling through eBay now :type

Ain't that the truth, though to be fair, almost all Garmin products are also shit, so it may be unfair to single out Basecamp.

There seems to have been little development effort put into Basecamp. I suspect they may be giving up completely on computer-based mapping and routing.

can't send a link - you just need to open app store on your mac and the search for Garmin Basecamp.

Might as well give it a try - it's free...

why would you bother with Garmin ?

there are a million mapping apps out there for the ipad that work well

as long as you have a gps in it - if not - get a bluetooth one - still works.

you're just thinking from the wrong end.

Are there any which will then be transferable to a Zumo on the bike?
