guzzi , some assembley required

K.I.S.S.

This is a moto is should opt for ,, Keep it simple Stupid ..
I worked out all kinds of elaborate mental images .
Being a silly C++t i even tried to make an Angled piece that was supposed to go back on itself and act as a Sorta spring ..
After faffing with the first try all afternoon , i decided to try a simple solution
Plan B. I could see how it was going to work , 15cm was my lucky figure !..
It all slotted together nicely , but i couldnt get to the Battery strap holder
I need the Simple solution with a wee off center mounting hole .

The Nipples Thread

Following on from this thread : http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=332383 .
The Brakes were next on the List.

I was Told a K100 were essentially the Same Caliper as the T3 ,
so i had a bit of a search and Found a well priced Front pair.
I only took the Mounting Holes into consideration and didnt think about the
width of the "Inside" of the caliper.
Needless to say they didnt fit..

I had a Set of ATE Calipers left over from a R65 project i have just sold.
So i offered them up , And Hey presto
After a Major bit of cleaning : result
I dont know anything about ATE , other than the only company selling the seal kit seems to be Motorworks..

The ATE calipers are Very similar to the Brembo Original.
I have used the Original Brembo on the Rear .

Magura Or Nissin ?

Considering , I know little of the subject , I am after some advice on this
one.
I have the ATE calipers on the Front and Have a Choice of either a Magura
or Nissin Master cylinder .
Which would suit this configuration best . Rob , Neil ?...

Tarozzi !

These are seeming the " Fashionable " Foot pegs .
I had a wee sit on her and My wee knees will never hold out to this angle
i may well have to revert to the Standard set up..
I will only know with useage .
I had been finding out a little about fitment and any known issues and sure
enough , there is one , Isnt there always ..
The Brake side can sometimes Foul on the Clutch actuation lever.. Later ..

The gear change linkage , fitted without a hickup , the only wee job needing
to be done was the Wee linkage was a touch tatty , so an under coat and a
silver touch was added , to good effect..

Now the Brake side was a different story altogether !.

As is my luck , the Clutch actuation lever did foul on the Tarozzi Mounting
points..
However i noticed The Actuation lever did have a few gouges on it already
so it must be a tight fit even for a standard fitment.
I pulled up a Seat and had a look at the Whole thing after a coffee .
In the interm , I reckond i would remove the Actuation lever , as it seemed
to be the Easiest option for the Moment.. I also Removed the Circlip around the Drive , just for a wee touch extra movement.
Whilst it was off , it presented another wee Job , It needed cleaned.
That Sorted , and after i had the Pegs fitted , I refitted the Lever , Which to
my amazement fitted , no hassle .
I reckon the Problem is the Length of the Fastener at the attach point , it fouls on the Lever and it just makes it very tight..

Rear Brakes ,

As a certain Gent , Forgot to include the Linkage from the Pedal to
the rear master cylinder , i cant finish this part until the Link arrives.

So , its back brakes Time ,
No funny stuff here , I have a Brembo MAster cylinder , and a Fully serviced Brembo
Caliper .
Heres hoping the Master Cyl , is an easy strip/renew / refit !........
What complication s do you envisage Cookie ?.

It's mostly plug n play on these Guzzis, if a bit weird at times. Good luck, just remember to light some scented candles and do a dance before you start. Save the pinch of salt for the wiring diagram!

With Guzzi wiring lay it out along the frame with the component parts in their original places. Normally everything falls into place. " Chris950s " on the MGCGB forum has some great wiring diagrams available. Worth joining that forum for good info.
Oh yeah .........
Yer wife is sitting the distributor of an earlier engine. Obviously not yours, so you had better keep an eye on her.

they're not too bad, but you do need a pin punch to get them apart and a special tool (ground down 1/4" socket and/or box spanner - 2 different sizes) to put them together again.

Elecwizardry

Well Jury Service put paid to any Major movement in this .
Thankfully its over , and i hope never again . Really heavy .

I couldnt see how this was going to work , i genuinely thought i had been
beat . I followed all the Advice , laying the loom over the Frame ,
it still didnt seem to make any sense , I have a T3 wiring diagram ,
It didnt seem to make any sence on some lines i was following !..
A Good fiend Loaned me his Coburn and hughs , it all made a lot of sense
I have all the relays in place , i still have a few hurdles but its under way..

Nice work Phil. Are you refitting the ignition switch back in the same position, at the front of the tank? Looks like your tank has the room. :nenau

Thanks for the pics, They are a useful reference of your ideas.
:beerjug:

The Ignition switch was one of the easier finds ans placements.
i now have tow tanks and it will fit with either .
Relocation wouldnt be a problem at all .
I decided to Cut away the Side as i couldnt fit my fingers down to place the wires , look grand and you wont see my cut out when the rubber cover is on.
