    A shufty up a ladder shows that my 'pertruberance' is removable with the aid of an allen key, bringing the overall height down to 9ft 3 1/2ins



    now, the only question remaining is, how wide is the archway



    I'll bring a telescopic ladder with me to remove my status aerial and persuade others that they can scrape through with encouraging calls of 'come on, there's plenty of room, opps, sorry about that, it should polish out' and the like.

    Yes, something like that.... I think I've done enough camping for this year, it really doesn't agree with my knees, all that crawling around getting into and out of tents..

    Just called the pub to see if they have any rooms for the wife and I, and no go. I'd camp if I didn't have back and neck problems.

    Looks like I'll be there for the road ride, then back home afterwards then.
