Just a little advice needed

I am not planning on doing too much riding over the winter so what is the best way to keep the battery alive for when i do want to ride ?

Do i
a) just leave it and hope it will be ok ( this worked last year )

b) plug the Optimate in and walk away untill i want to ride

c) Just charge it if it needs it before i want to ride

d) none of the above but with alternative

Thanks and dont forget the sarcasm/abuse

I find it is best to remove it and preserve its power by immersing it in a bucket of water, ensuring the terminals are fully covered.:thumb

Connect an Optimate and walk away until you want to ride the bike again.

Pay the electric bill and leave it on charge

Would you recomend GS LC purchased from waitrose water or just normal tap water with a little bit salt in

Constant trickle charge rather than an occasional heavy/full charges are better for battery life.

just plug it in and leave it, more so if you have an alarm fitted?

I'm probably gonna regret saying this, as it will turn round and bite me in the bum this winter....

But I've had an optimate for the past 15 winters or thereabouts. I know people who's batteries fail at the end of the winter, when their bikes have been hooked up constantly.

Therefore I have been leaving the bike and about once every three weeks giving it a boost on the optimate back to "fully charged"

I also start the bike every other charge and make sure it gets to breathe.

Outside these times, I choose to leave the bike off the optimate. Never had the misfortune of having to change a battery.

Apologies in advance for hijacking this thread - can't seem to start a thread on my own in this forum for some reason.

I've got the BMW version of the pictured charger, with a Hella plug on the end. Was working then stopped (plugged into a 2010 GSA). I've tried it on other bikes, too.

I get the error LED on constant (after the usual start-up 'all lights come on then go out apart from the green power light). The manual says it's because the battery is connected the wrong way or the leads are shorted together - but I have checked the plug and made sure I connect a battery the right way round.

Anyone had this before and knows how to fix?

Is there a better forum for this issue?
