Sergeant Nigel O’Neill, Ardee Garda Station, is currently seeking expressions of interest from riders with a view to establishing a BikeSafe initiative in the North East region.

He's aiming to get the ball rolling on this by Christmas with a view to starting the assessments in the new year. If you’re interested in taking part, please e-mail louthbikesafe@gmail.com with your name and contact details.

BikeSafe is a free unbiased assessment of your abilities on two wheels and if you haven't done it yet you owe it to yourself to give it a go. Even if you have, and it's been a while, here's an opportunity to polish up the skills :)

Nigel is a fantastic pilot with lots of time under his belt in traffic in Dublin. Anyone getting time with him will be getting quality information. :thumb

'BikeSafe in Ireland is a purely voluntary effort by individual members of An Garda Síochána who give freely of their time and expertise for the benefit of all riders. We in MAG Ireland wholly endorse this effort, and we strongly encourage all riders regardless of age or experience to participate in and support this initiative.'

Good for them. Very commendable. Well worth supporting.
