Plans to buy a F650GS after my test were shelved after deciding on something a little more oriental. Hence the long time lurk, but I’ll graciously accept any awards for record breaking! The sideboard could do with a splash of colour. However, things maybe about to change... My incompetence has finally caught up with me. They really shouldn't let me ride these things...
A inadvertent neutral, a screaming engine and a panicked kick into second (going up hill and losing momentum), left me with a easily changeable broken chain, thanks to AA recovery and the nice man in the bike shop letting me push to the front of the workshop queue to get me on my way.
The high pitched scary whine in the gearbox however... Picture in your mind Jeremy Clarkson’s Alfa 75... Damn. That GS (not mentioning either capacity or method of cooling) may be closer in my future than originally planned.
But my audibly wounded stubborn Japanese pre teen (just) partner in crime and I have managed to limp home, but am very sad to say I won't make the weekend. I cannot thank you enough for your welcome and invite to a last minute stranger. Very sorry to miss it and I hope there will be another time for me and this weather holds for all. Was shocked to find somehow the Sun had got through Welsh immigration, so it's not all bad. At least there’s a jazz festival on to distract from the thoughts of a rather large bill...
Sorry, rambling.
May the sun stay warm and the beer stay cold for you all.
With thanks,
Tim.
