There's this devilishly handsome fella who many here know as Chad ....

He brought me a plain black 1150 GSA tank which he bought to replace his standard 1150 tank (which I painted for him last year)

The brief was to paint it in the style of the 1150 Anniversary scheme but using colours suited to his bike, a custom paint job that had a genuine BMW theme to it.

My mate TheOtherPaulG of this parish very kindly let me borrow the tank from his 1150 Anniversary to take some measurements from.

The tank had some damage to one of the lower edges which need repairing first. On closer examination I found that this area had already been repaired before so it had clearly been on the floor before. Easily enough sorted though :thumb

Then ... paint, mask, paint, mask, swear, paint, scratch head, mask, paint, sleep, prep, clear, clear again, polish and write thread!

I'll not go into my usual detail with this one as it's a little bit tedious and I like to keep a bit of mystique about what I do :blast

I will state for the record though .... The finished product is 100% paint, there are no stickers or vinyl on the finished tank :thumb2

Nobody likes a smart arse. But that looks fookin superb, top job Chris.

When I saw the pics I had to go back to the opening post - I assumed I'd mis-read the 'no stickers or vinyl' comment.

That really is impressive; interestingly that graphic scheme conceals some of the bulk of the tank. As others have said, I'd love to see pics of this on the bike.
