does any of these affect the heating though? Looking for new grips and this might be a better solution but still want heated grips. Any winter riders care to comment?

work fine with heated grips on my Tracer - I have the Grip Puppies variant. Obviously, it takes a little longer before you feel the heat but once warm they work just the same.
I use the GPs for the same reason as Tim - I like to have something thicker in my hand due to a wonky thumb joint.
