just bought another bike, any good deals on multi bike insurance? :beerjug:

I use Ebike, do everything online and no admin charges if you change your policy, I have had money back.

How many bikes constitute multi-bike will vary, as will the terms, conditions and premiums charged between individual buyers of the insurance and between insurers themselves. What suits me, may well not suit you.

For instance, the BMW Motorrad scheme, broked by Devitt, stops at four bikes. The insurer is quite happy to take on five bikes and many more * , it's Devitt's own IT system that cannot cope with more than four BMW bikes off the same policy.

Similarly, it might depend on the make of your additional motorbike. For example, you cannot add a KTM or a Yamaha say, to a BMW Motorrad branded policy, though you can add other BMW's up to four... After that Devitt's IT system crashes.

The best tip as ever is for YOU to shop around. It's the one common item in all the 'What's a good deal?' type threads on UKGSer. Good deals are out there, no question. YOU do have to do some work though.

* They issue single policies to bods with 20 or more bikes, classic collectors for example.... Or just ordinary bods who just happen to have a big garage, who want to fill it with motorcycles as opposed to handbags or bottles of gin.

Apparently, according to the insurer at least, it is down to the type of software the broker uses, nothing more.

As far as I can make out the broker(s) use an IT platform (I love these words) that will link to assorted insurers' own quote engines. Outside of the monkey (either the bod in the broker's office or the Tosser on-line) who inputs the details, nobody touches anything. It's all electronic, cutting down costs but doing nothing to aid unemployment in the north.

Someone in their infinite wisdom decided that nobody would ever own more than four motorcycles, so the software was capped at four. It's rather like Monty P's Holy Handgrenade, where the number was three. Ask it to do five or more and computer says no.

7 here with CN - no hassle but it helps if you insist on speaking to one of their specialist bods otherwise it gets a bit painful........

If only insuring two bikes, i'd recommend individual policies, as i do now.

I did a comparison a few years ago, comparing multibike against single bike insurance.

Multi bike was £650 for two bikes
However, individual policies only cost £230 total.
£100 for my 09 1200GSA and £130 for my 2011 Ducati Diavel....simples

But you can only use your no claims bonus on one policy, not both.

I've just took a single policy out on the bike ive just brought with Hastings direct (NCD=0) I've used them on my wc. Policy cost £95 on a 2010 TC it was cheaper this way than adding to my policy on the wc.

thanks for the advice:thumby: i rang BMW Motorrad who added the ducati on for an additional £100 plus the dreaded service charge so a good result

cheers :beerjug:

Yep, admin fees are a killer, I always argue, they always say there's nothing they can do about it, I ask for a supervisor, I get a 50% discount , or waive all together???rip off Britain!
Oh and admin for what exactly, by the time your told about the admin fee, the admin is done, and they just have to press a button to email you the documents...oh well!
