I have been told 'Yes', but.............."it would not be economically viable" and would require 'a new ECU' and 'wiring' etc.

I collected my 2014 GSA in March. Doesn't make sense to me that this new farkle couldn't be fitted to a contemporary machine without too much fuss.

Any thoughts?

63 views and not one thought? My, my, how disappointing. Is this a record? Perhaps I should simplify the thread......:green gri

Why not ask a BMW dealer FFS instead of slamming this community for not answering within 24 hours?

I will pose an alternative question and see how quickly you reply.

Why do you want keyless Retrofitted?

I thought - "boring thread", after I hovered the cursor over the title - and didn't bother to open it, until I saw two replies ........

Then I thought "I wonder what sort of replies that guy's had - Mmm.... let's have a look"

Now, I think "Fcuk! I fell into the trap - I should have stuck with my original appraisal" :blast

Haha, yeah I was bored and searching the threads for something to stimulate me. A poster with a huge sense of entitlement filled that gap.

I wait with baited breath for a response.

It has now been 3 days since I posed by question and no response from the OP.

I feel so butthurt. Now I know how you feel, oh, dem feels.

Keyless, its a great idea but I'd have speced it in when I went shoping for the bike (its a bit like trying to retofit cruse control to a 1.8 Mk3 MX5 - futile)

Voz, chill out, I wasn't slamming anything pal (and it was a little longer than 24 hours wasn't it?!) Am in the wrong place? Whilst admittedly being boring and perhaps arguably borderline technical, I was canvassing the thoughts of other members, I wasn't looking for a row. Thanks for stating the obvious, but I did originally ask the dealer, and what I was told was in my original post, hence 'putting it out there'. Sorry about your arse by the way. Perhaps that was the boring you referred to? Errant Kangaroo perhaps? No, I must be mistaken.

Ebbo, thanks for your comment. I wasn't able to spec the keyless when I got the bike in March as it wasn't available. It's a good system to have IMO as it worked really well on my Harley. I didn't think it would be a major issue to retro fit this bit of kit. I was wrong.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, but I have been in Barbados since Christmas Eve, and I wasn't about to trawl this site for stimulation. That is definitely another type of site.....

Happy New Year to all. Even you Voz :thumb

A new ECU plus dealer fitment would make this a very expensive upgrade (£2K + at a guess) albeit technically possible. Better to trade in for a more recent model with it already fitted.

Thanks Beemerman, I think you are about right there. I'll give it a bit yet though methinks :D

Have you seen the thread about peeps being able to ride your pride and joy away whilst you are getting cash out of the auto teller?

Something about of you're close enough to the bike it will start and carry on running even when it goes out of range of the fob.

Certainly not a thing I would want, there again I'm probably a Luddite.

Unless you park closer than 1 metre away, they won't be able to start your bike.

I had keyless ignition on my Multistrada and to be honest, I thought it was interesting gimmick but nothing more.

Now I've swapped to an RTLC with "normal" ignition and can't believe how much I miss the keyless system - and what a waste of time/money the central locking on the RT is. No doubt by the time the RTT goes, I'll change my mind again!
