I can thoroughly recommend this place should anyone be looking for a long weekend destination.

We made no attempt to do it on the cheap and stayed in the highest rated trip advisor hotel the Metropolitan Boutique hotel in a suite and it is deservedly the best rated.

We spent 4 nights there and including flights, private transfers and the Auschwitz tour the total cost was £610 for the 2 of us.

It is a wonderful city with shades of faded grandeur and communist grim. Excellent and cheap food and drink with incredibly friendly and helpful people.
Auschwitz left me a bit flat as its done in a little too sterile a way and Belson portrays the horror better IMO but worth doing.

Any way for this interested a selection of my trip photos can be found here

Thanks for that, enjoyed the pics, going to Krakow in june as part of a 5 week tour begining in may.

Totally agree with redrick , it's such an interesting city, loads to see and do, and so cheap. The salt mines are well worth a visit too if anyone is planning a visit.

what fabulous photos, looks a fab place, deffo on my list for a nice long weekend:beerjug:

Great photos. I definitely want to go there soon. Are the salt mines not a bit claustrophobic?

We didnt do the salt mines but people said they were fasntastic and i would, having been on the Auschwitz trip recomend the salt mines instead. I understand that people will want to see Auschwitz and Birkenau but it was in my mind too flat and sterile in a museum sort of way and as said previously any one wanting the shiver up the spine feeling should go to Belson instead.
There were huge numbers of Isreali dressin in national flags and Sweat shirts with the star of David on them and i guess they feel that they have more entitlements than most but they were fucking annoying with their attitude

Some great photographs in there Rick ... safe to say that you're getting the hang of this photography mullarky :D

Thanks for sharing :thumb
