This is interesting.
Its a famous photograph taken by Frank Hurley during the ITAE expedition.
An article in a newspaper raised concern over the 'ghost' in the background but there is no ghost...its just another crew member who was obscured by the smoke generated by flash powder thrown into the stove.
So someone has cleaned the photo up with modern software and you can make out the other man in the background, many feel it may be Tom Crean
