Hi folks hope this is in the right place !

I have a GS fitted with a Bmw Nav 3 this is wired in to the canbus socket.

I plan to remove the Nav 3.

I have bought a Garmin Zumo 390 and rather than wire it straight to the battery my question is can I connect to the canbus plug from the Nav 3 and simply plug it back into the bike.

If I can do this can I also remove the in line fuse on the Garmin Loom.

Thanks

Sherlock

Just fit the canbus plug to the new Nav and away to go.
I never bothered removing the fuse as its redundant but might be useful if I fit to something else or sell on.

I replaced a Nav II with a Zumo 350 wired to the headstock connector. Follow the thread http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/117400-How-to-make-a-Canbus-GPS-cable-for-a-1200GS for guidance. I bought a connector, soldered the power leads from the Zumo (red to pin 3, black to pin 1 if I remember correctly but I'd advise checking) and it worked. You could remove the fuse in the Zumo power lead but I can't see and need to unless you want to cut the Zumo power lead short to save having to hide it somewhere.
