New to North East Scotland/Aberdeenshire

I've lived in the states for a few years and enjoyed taking my F800 GS off-road, down many forest trails and through swamps. I'm shortly picking up a new 1200 GSA and I plan on touring, carrying my other half and hopefully getting some trails done.

I've read up on the laws here in Scotland and understand there are practically no places to go trail riding.

I'm hoping someone has some nuggets of info for a new comer to the north east. I'm not too interested in courses as I just want to go out for a ride and not have to pay for access.

There are quite a few places you can ride off road but your mostly gonna be doing so illegally and run the risk of a slap on the wrist if caught.
