My F650GS Twin has very slight leak (a seep really) on the left (nearside) of the engine. The source is not visible without removing at least some of the plastics but it comes from very near the top of the engine, possibly towards the front.

It's so slight the oil level hasn't dropped in over 3000 miles. The oil just makes that side of the cyclinder block greasy.

Any ideas? Is it a 'known' issue?

What year is it? Early 650/800s had an issue with top rocker cover not sealing properly. Not a major issue as the amount of oil that escapes is minuscule, but annoying none the less. I don't know if they managed to find a fix for those bikes, but it doesn't happen on the later bikes after about 2012.

They did find a fix - mine was done under warranty but this was a few years ago now - i think they changed the shape of the gasket.

Thanks people. It's a 2008. It's due for a 12000 mile service now so, would it be a good idea to have it fixed? Or is that going to be expensive, so best to live with a greay engine casing?
