This was found buried under 20 years of junk in friend of a friend's shed a couple of months back. New plugs, filters, rear brake rebuild and it passed its MOT last week with flying colours. Takes me right back it does and looks alright after a (very) quick wipe over? Got all the right bits... Motad, Micron fork brace, 2-4 seat and Marzocchi shocks.

To be honest, its not quite as good as it looks in the photo but I reckon a couple of days work and you could ride it to the South of France.

Very nice!

One of my oldest mates has the 750, it's his only bike which takes him everywhere.

Great bike and I was tempted to look for one myself :beerjug:

That Sir is tidy.

I had gs550 back in '83, a gs750 in '84 that I despatched to bits and then another gs750 in maybe '88. This is my first thou' though. Fastest lap I ever rode around the TT course was on my 750 chasing my mate on his gs1000. Lunacy!

Was my first new bike , here it is cira 1979, sold it to get married, should have kept it:D

Davy F, I got the original shocks and seat like yours together with a spare tank for the bike. I presume the side panels would have been black like yours also. Just cleaning out the carbs again and checking the shims before balancing the carbs. Also heard today the owners has located the registration docs too which saves a lot of hassle. Don't think I ever saw one with your colour scheme easyrider, looks very nice indeed.

(These Flickr adds are a PITA!)

my old GS and a somewhat younger me. good bike, and fast. had it three years before i realised how bland it was though. sold it and bought my second Le Mans, a Mk III :)

fuck me, that mini was an absolute POS!

Quality bike!! Guy in the village raced one on the roads when I was a lad. Used to hear him start it at the pub down the street and hear him cane it up the road for a few miles to his house.. Marshall race pipe I think!!

My first drag bike was a GS750, got it down to mid tens with a bit of work, ugly piece of shit but you could really make the engines scream!!! Rock solid as well never ever had a problem with the engine and it was well hacked about in an 1980's council garage sort of way :)

I remember going down the local bike club on my 18th birthday...on the biggest bike I'd ever ridden, a CB200....

One of the guys chucked me his keys and said 'happy birthday' go and have a ride'

A GS1000

I recall seeing 100mph on the speedo on my 15 minute bimble :D

My boss owned the 750 before me, he asked me to service it and it turned out one of the coils was faulty and it had only been running on three cylinders, so I sorted it all out and handed it back running 100%, he rode it down the road and back, handed it back and said i could keep it, it was now way too quick for him and he scared himself white!! Happy days!

These seemed to have missed the hype in prices that most classics have had in the last few years. No doubt they will catch up.

I think they are undervalued too and a much nicer bike than the equivalent Z1000. However, I've done what I said I'd do and got it MOT'd and on the road, so the bike is now up for sale on car and classic. My heart-achingly beautiful and totally mint Hugh Brown '66 T120R is also going to be sold soon as I try and down-size. The more bikes I acquire, the less I seem to ride so there's a few more old friends going to be released into the wild over the coming months.
