Greetings KTM fans.

As an owner of the Ford Mondeo of the motorcycling world (GS LC), I sometimes find myself yearning for something a little more charismatic, whilst retaining the versatility/effectiveness of the LC on the road.

Could this be an answer?

'cos for me, the 'versatility' part of the equation often has to involve bunging the Mrs, and her clobber, on the back...

I was looking at those at the bike show. Very nice I thought, in a crazy, bonkers kind of way. Looks a lot nicer in the flesh than in pics. A lot more practical than the Superduke what with the fairing and ability to use panniers with no pannier frames etc. I'm guessing a not quite so extreme riding position either. I'm tempted but keep having a word with myself.

In my opinion it's KTM's replacement for the 990 SMT, it has some big shoes to fill!

Why bother with the GT
Just get the full fat Superduke R and some Kriega bags

Er,because with the GT you get a much bigger tank, better riding position with lower pegs, heated grips, quick shifter, cruise control and an adjustable screen........

Harry Hill's getting one :

Now where have I seen that face before ;0)

Do it, do it!

In all honesty, if I didn't want something that was capable off road I'd have one of those over my 1190 any day :bounce1

I'm trying to pin down the reasons that I really like it. I think it's because, at its most basic level, it's a sports tourer. But without all the really dull, tedious, road-captain style associations that go along with that label, as with say a VFR1200 (apologies to any owners...).

Most people use their adventure bikes as sports tourers - maybe we've just been waiting for a decent one to come along...

I certainly fancy a test ride on one ...

RS - I'm sure it's great, but it's still a bit worthy-looking for my tastes.

With this GT, I could see myself chopping in the GS and my 2010 Fireblade for it, on the basis that I was making a 'sensible' decision...

I'm with you with the off road capable thing but my little legs don't enable me to own an 1190R and I'm not keen on the road version. I also now have an EXC so can get my dirty kicks with that.

When I say I have a word with myself, it is usually due to spending 16 large on a motorcycle. It being a new, not out yet bike, there is not a lot of option.

Soooooooooo........with this is mind I am thinking along the lines of – 'sod all the sensible niceties of the GT' and am going to look at 1290 Super Dukes at P&H Motorcycles in Crawley in the morning. You can get them A. cheaper than list it would seem and B. secondhand.

Like it...nice justification :D

Still prefer the 1290SDR .. i put the KTM panniers on it and tour, one up with ease. Just my opinion but I think all the additional bits of the GT would spoil the bike.
