Bennetts

My renewal came through for the Super Tenere at £195. Thats £35 more than last year. So I rang bennets and was on hold for no more than a minute.

Told the nice lady I'd got an online quote from them of £141 . She said it was no problem, cancelled the auto renew, and honoured the lower quote , so 20 or so quid cheaper than last year :thumb

Got an online quote from Bennetts yesterday, £188 fully comp for 2 bikes with all the additional extra's I required; CN for the same cover quoted £258 and no idea (yet) what my existing provider, Bikesure, will quote.

Nice to know I can get cover for under £200 for the first time in years :D

Just tried to add my recently acquired bonneville to my RT policy with Bennetts.

8 months remaining.....that'll be £148 sir!!!

Used a compare website to find a new stand alone 12month policy and Bennetts came top of the list at £93, fully comp with no ncb as I'd used that for my RT.

Guess which I chose?

Lo and behold both policies are underwritten by Aviva

Go figure....:nenau

Just for the record, I bought a new GS in April and paid a small price difference (with Bennetts) from my old bike for the insurance to run until July. At the time I asked how much the yearly insurance would be, "About £192", Bennets said. Imagine my horror when the auto renewal quote came through at over £500.

Picked up the phone on Bennets who then got it to £230 (no changes to policy) So I went to Bennetts online and got it to £180.

Now I like a challenge but what a faff, that took 3 calls, 2 hang ups and plenty of online dicking around.

I received my renewal from Bennett's yesterday £364.00 that's up nearly £80 from last year, Done the comparison thing last night MCE came out the best with euro cover and all the other protection £265.00

I'll be phoning Bennett's later..

Spoke to my current insurer (Bikesure/Red Star Equity)....renewal came in at £246.....so off to Bennetts/Zenith for the next year....:D

Phoned Bennet's today... they weren't bothered one bit, made a pathetic attempt to drop my insurance .. £328.60 from £364.00

Just gone to Bikesure/Adrian flux £245.50 with all the personal protection, riding gear etc., breakdown including 60day euro cover..

It appears Bennetts have just been devoured by Saga Insurance Services.

Apologies if this has already been noted elsewhere.

Would that be the same SAGA Insurance Services recently being slagged off by consumer programmes for ripping off vulnerable pensioners

Not sure, but highly likely.
They're not my preferred insurer of first choice due to some dubious practices they displayed with my house insurance renewal a few years ago. IIRC Saga publicly-floated the company a few years ago with a mission statement openly suggesting they had access to a large database of aging, and vulnerable customers who they probably thought they could take the pi$$ with.

Well, re-newed with Bennetts (Zenith) for £177 (£11 cheaper than my previous quote with them) fully comprehensive including all my required additions for 2 bikes; did it online, documents were sent to me within 10 mins of paying...happy dayz :D

I also phoned their customer service team, and was on hold for 40 seconds before speaking to a v helpful chap (luck of the draw perhaps with service centres).

CN quoted me £258 including my required additions; Bikesure re-quoted me £260........

FWIW...Saga bought Bennetts back in 2015 so not new news ;), but my new experience with Bennetts, not having insured through them for several years, has been v good :D

Thanks for that. I thought the motorcycle insurance was something recent, judging by the info Saga sent me :)
I've already had a few years of good experiences with Bennetts and do hope they continue with their competitiveness and good customer service; however, my experiences with other areas of Saga fell short of expectations and their acquisitions prospectus suggested they may be changing direction in 2013 :thumby:

I don't understand, am I missing something glaringly obvious?
Got my renewal letter from Bennetts the other day, £330 fully comp for a 16 year old 1150GS, garaged over night. Not sure exactly what it was last year but I think it was more like £200. Went on their website and and got a quote for £279.
Next went on Carole Nash website and got £191.
Now here's the thing, went on two comparison websites and for exactly the same details I got £96 & £77. Now compared to the 'big' two specialist insurers these seem far too good to be true. So what's going on?

Well- in the case of Carole Nash ...... They are a bunch of scamming retards.

Al

I certainly wonder whether Bennetts and CN are ripping me off, but more worryingly, in the event of a claim, are the cheap quotes not worth the paper they're written on?

Bennetts renewal quotes (for me) have never been the most competitive; however, they have always matched the best internet quote when I've phoned their customer service.
You can't get fairer than that. :nenau

My lad passed his test today and for his F650GS, Bennetts wanted almost exactly £1000 more than Carole Nash. Just Motorcycles came in another £200 cheaper so job done :)

CN just quoted me £200 more than bike sure. But bike sure have asked for photos, declarations of mileage, copies of my licence, utility bills blah, blah etc. It's all legit but wish I'd stayed with CN with all this presumed Guilty nonsense.

They are all a shower of shisters. I was with MOTORCYCLE DIRECT for my Gold wing with which I paid £130 last month for the complete years cover. .Changed to a GS, asked to swop over the bike details. wanted an extra 130.00, £50 was for admin, so still over £200 for the year. To cancel and go elsewhere they were charging me £70 for admin fee and I will get a £20 refund. Went on line comparison sites got Bennetts /Zenith for £75.00 for the year. X/s is £600, which is becoming the norm these days. I have a 650 Versys with Hastings , its £250 x/s. But as I said they all need to be kept an eye on... EVERY year.
