Retrofit now available apparently

There is a guy on another S1000XR forum, http://s1000xrforum.com, that has his booked into BMW Bristol and they are doing a free retrofit of the 2017 new mounts. Seems it's all been agreed with the mothership for a retrofit.

I took a 2017 demo out today with zero miles on it.
Initially, felt vibration through 5000 rpm range. (I had just test rode a 2017 GS and probably made it more noticeable).
Anyway, they started to fade immediately and after 50 miles, nothing at all. In fact the bike after 50 miles felt silky smooth.
The GS however felt really viby and flat at around 80 mph. The GS only seemed really pleasant at lower speeds.
The gearbox on the GS was brilliant mind! No clunking at all.
Now to barter discount on an XR!:D

...Forgot to say the heated grips were shit compared to the GS's which I had to turn down:blast

The new Rubbers are mounted inside the top yolk where the risers are bolted on, not between the bars and the yolk as the above pics I believe they have all got those
I ordered a set as I cant be arsed to wait for the first service and when I got the price for the bits £9.00 including VAT and delivery I thought Fcuk it ill do it myself

Parts arrived yesterday and I fitted them last night took all of 40 mins start to finish including slurping a cup of tea, if I had to do another one its a 25 min job thats very easy for anyone who can hold a 16mm spanner and torx

The new rubbers are much more squishy than the existing ones that cant be squeezed between your fingers so id say more likely to absorb the vibes not ridden it yet but others on the other side say its a big improvement

Just thought Id post that as ive also heard that some have been told that it has to be carried out by a dealer, it does if you want the bits free but for £9 who cares

Nigel the part numbers are at home on the receipt so cant give them to you mate but if you speak to Mark Utting in the parts Dept at Riders in Cardiff he will be able to sort it for you they have a load of them in

Mine's at the dealer having this done, but BMW sent the wrong parts, so it's going to be there until early next week. I hope it's worth it. I can't ride for a while anyway!:augie

Hi Rob,
So are you saying the 2017 bikes don`t actually have that rubber part showing like on my photos above?
