I've always liked the look of the Sidi Adventure boot and every review I'd read on them were positive so earlier this year I bought myself a pair from Ecosse Dundee.

As I'd hoped, they were comfortable, well made and looked great (even with my trousers over the top of them) however a month or so ago I was out in some serious rain and my feet got wet. Not what you expect from a £300 pair of Goretex boots so I nipped into Ecosse, explained the problem and they said they'd get right onto the supplier and let me know the outcome.

A couple of days later I was asked to drop them off as the importer Feridax wanted to send them away for testing, not ideal as I'd possibly be without them for a couple of weeks but the weather's been not to bad and my Tech7's with waterproof socks have sufficed.

Anyway a couple of weeks passed without any word so I got my good lady 'H' to give Ecosse a shout to chase up my boots. Apparently they'd been sent back to Italy where they had immersed them for three days without any sign of a leak.

Now I'm not usually one to over react but I was fuckin livid when H passed on the news, because I know for a fact they did leak and I'm now thinking I'm gonna have to take them back, then the next time it rains I'm gonna have to go back in to Ecosse and show them my soaked feet and wait another three fuckin weeks for it possibly to be resolved.

However thanks to Andy at Ecosse that's not how it played out at all.

When he called yesterday to say my boots were back I reluctantly headed down to pick them up, but when I arrived he told me he'd just got off the phone with Feridax as he wasn't happy with them at all. Turns out the cardboard label he'd tied on them before sending them away was still attached to the boot with the same knot he'd used weeks before, when he challenged them about it they said they'd covered the label with a plastic bag and the boots had been sprayed with water to test them not immersed as said previously.

Not trusting them Andy said if I was ok with it he wanted to test them himself by submerging them in the sink for a couple of hours with some blue roll in them. I told him to crack on and gimme a shout once he was done.

An hour later H got a call to say they had forwarded the video of them pouring the water out my boot to the importer and Andy had gave them a bollocking over the phone.

This afternoon a brand new pair of boots arrived from Feridax and I got a complimentary can of Mucoff waterproofing spray from Ecosse for my troubles.

Top marks to Andy at Ecosse for taking the initiative and dealing with the problem before it spiralled out into a long drawn out affair.

And fuck Feridax.

Good to hear positive news about dealers.

Don't forget to let us know how the new boots perform.

I wouldn't wait as Winter is heading this way, get them in the sink with some blue roll inside!

Good work by that dealer. I'm in the market for new boots - that's Sidi Adventure off the list if that's how they treat warranty claims

They are good boots,
But you have got to watch ( if ye have hoofs like mine) not to let your toe nails cut up into the goretex liner as mine did on my first Nordkapp trip , good job I had packed a pair of sealskinz w/proof socks :thumb2
