Planning a spin tomorrow from Cork.

Probably cross-country on minor roads towards Limerick direction and via East Clare Way (small bit of easy offroad) to Portumna and a bite to eat there.
Back to Cork around other side of Lough Derg.

Leave Cork by @9.30 / 10.00 latest and home by @ 17.30 - if anyone is interested.

Jaysus, sounds great............ as I'm still up at 1.40.....full of whiskey..... getting down to Cork by 9.30 will be a non runner.

Enjoy the shpin lads.

Spin Result

A bit after 10 when I got going, but a good spin.

The day was mainly overcast, but a few photos anyway.

A (just about possible to see) view of the Lower Harbour in Cork.
You might just about make out one of the 3 no. cranes being assembled in the old Cork Dockyard in the distance.

Better view below

They are due to be loaded to a barge /ship in February - going to Puerto Rico.
Will be interesting to see it being done, and good to see work of this scale being done in a place that ceased to built ships 30 years ago.

And Onwards

A few along the way

Always handy to have a spare wellie in a sheep pen.

Pubs

I ate in Portumna - O'Meara's, but next time I must try here, on the East side of the bridge from the town.
It looks interesting.

I did eat here at Paddy's in Terryglass before it was very nice

The End

It was getting too dark for photos at that stage, so these are the last two.

Altogether a good day out.

A few things I learned on the way home:

1. Les Wassell's HIDs are good.
2. The 800 is very economical - I am getting 65mpg consistently.

It's nearly midnight - Happy New Year to all !

The Ferry Inn do some lovely grub, I've been stopping there on my travels on and off for the last 20 years.

For a moment I read the strap line to this thread as SPAiN from Cork! Now that would be a ride out to remember!

Those day trips are more Patzx12's field than mine I think

Well that is a good recommendation

Not me unfortunately Michael.
Weather looks good though.

The 3 cranes being assembled, I had wondered where they were going as roads over there not up to lots of container trucks coming and going. Must keep an eye out for the departure, will be a nice pic heading out of harbour at Roches Point.
