Well 0.4bhp of the velosolex was too little. ..I'm going to try this mobylette for the local hop to the paper shops:thumb2 this is the non runner start point for the project. A failed restoration off e bay
:thumb

This is a picture of the bike loosely assembled (off sales advert) Various bits missing, needs rear wheel true, cable set, wiring sorted etc etc. I'll update as and when I get started. The very first bike I ever owned was a £5 raleigh RM6 RUNABOUT in 1975. So this is exactly the same but a mobylette ;)
just cost more than a fiver this time :blast

Steve another charming pedal and pop. The boys in the NACC have these as well so will be a good source of info. Paintwork looks tidy, so it should be a simple resto.

Riding this bike, Tomos riders will be the grass and you will be the lawnmower!!!

Que Andre..............

It needs a bit of time, it's all been stripped, shotblast and repainted but the guy has just moved house to the next village from me and is culling his collection. It's got nice new tyres and tubes, chrome is ok will clean up better than it looks
. But I need throttle, choke, decompress and brake cables off e bay.it does run but last started three years ago. It's got a V5.
I collect the bike on Thursday, I'll go through it then:rolleyes:

If you've got the original cables then I'd try Venhill and ask if they'll make copies from them. It might work out slightly more expensive but I've always found the quality of cables from them to be very good.

Thanks:beerjug:

Well collected,
I need a full cable set, sort out the wiring, decide if I should repaint, refit the awful leg shields, I've already ordered correct period decals off ebay ( isaydingdong) a pair of leathertte black panniers and a period instruction book.
The velosolex is sold pending collection
This mobylette was plenty cheap enough to make it a worthwhile project.
laugh....
one previous registered keeper
named:p
Agnes Brown:rolleyes:
official no blag;)
pmsl when I saw the old V5

"THAT' S NICE".......

Well dvla are a pain , long story short I submitted the 1983 V5 for change to a v5c.
So they rejected it

saying until I finish the restoration, insure and tax the mobylette they won't issue the new V5 c in my name.
It historic and tax free but they want £17 rfl tax in order to issue the v5c and a refund of £17 .......

THAT'S NICE!!

Washers/ payment/ wouldn't. .........
:blast

5 photos, one letter and 2 emails later v5c from dvla arrived today:rolleyes:
onward with the restoration now:cool:

It's a York registration. Might have raced that once on my Raleigh RM6 back in 1975! A couple of mates had those. I really wanted a Garelli Tiger Cross though!

My first bike was the raliegh rm6, I paid £5, my second bike was a 1975 Garelli Tiger cross ,I paid £25.it was so noisy my mother was glad when I sold it at £145 some 6 months later, sold for a Puch sport moped in yellow!
I've only just found all the old pictures in the loft. I need to scan them:rolleyes:
