    *******

This is an update to the earlier posting as there is now a general discussion post at http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthr...4-Navigator-VI

    It’s happening…Navigator VI (Navigator 6) is coming!

Due to arrive in March 2017, the new Navigator VI will be offered in parallel to the Navigator V (Navigator 5).

Price (to be confirmed) will be £675 inc VAT for the Navigator VI without cradle (for bikes already having Navigator 5 preparation fitted [Control wheel on left handle bar]) and £755 inc VAT for the Navigator VI with 4 button cradle (use with older versions where Navigator 5 has not been fitted).

I have been asked if a deal price could be done if there was enough support. I will look at this for sure as soon as the units are released (March is currently the date advised by Germany). In the mean time if you are interested in a Navigator 6 please send me an email to nickspiller@cotswoldgroup.com (let me know if you are interested in the Navigator VI with or without 4 button cradle) and I will be in touch with a deal as soon as I know what can be done (the more names I get the more leverage I have..)

    A few specs detailed below..

Also see http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/index.html then click 'Equipment' then 'BMW Motorrad Navigator VI' to the right of the popup window.

    • Brighter display with improved readability in strong sunlight thanks to circular polarisation filter (CPOL) (with the same display size (5") and same outer dimensions)
    • Front of enclosure has an innovative smartphone-like look
    • Twice the integrated storage capacity of the predecessor model (16 GB instead of 8 GB for EU/US)
 (device without pre-installed map data unchanged 4 GB)
    • Improved routeing option "curvy roads" ("Curvy Roads") by avoiding urban areas as much as possible
    • New function: avoid main roads
 Allows automatic avoidance of main roads during routeing and route calculation. In combination with the already existing avoidance of motorways, roads that are even better suited for motorcycle riding are selected.
 Any combination of the various routeing options, such as "curvy roads" for an optimal result
 Unique feature with unique selling point
    • New function: round trip ("Round Trip")
 Allows you to create a route with identical start and destination with a specified duration.
 Any combination with routing options and avoidances
    • New function: music streaming from smartphone
 Allows you to listen to music stored on your smartphone through the Navigator VI
 Music playback from the smartphone is started and stopped via the Navigator VI.
 Playback of music titles on Android smartphones occurs in the order in which they are stored on the smartphone; on iOSsmartphones, additional playlists can be called up.
    • New function: control of a compatible "action cam" directly via the Navigator
    • Identical mounting on the vehicle, suitable for all known, vehicle-specific mounts or for navigation preparation
    • Identical electrical connection to the on-board power supply by OA connector

With a 5" touch screen, it helps you plan and enjoy your tours even more than before. The circular polarisation filter (CPOL) on the display minimises reflections, improves contrast and ensures optimal readability even in direct sunlight. Enjoy the ride and discover new destinations using the "curvy roads" planning option or the new feature "avoid main highways" and using the "Round Trip" function, you can even tailor your tour based on time, distance or even stops in between. With "Natural Guidance" navigation announcements, you'll always be well informed of your surroundings. Set the soundtrack to your tours: Bluetooth technology and the new "music streaming" feature lets you play back titles stored on your smartphone. Be your own director and control compatible "action cams" directly from the Navigator. Depending on the model, a convenient operation of all relevant functions while riding is provided by either the 4-button Mount Cradle or from the handlebars via the Multi-Controller. And in conjunction with the navigation preparation, additional ground-breaking functions such as "My Motorcycle" pages, as well as warnings and status reports are also available. The optional Garmin Smartphone Link app for traffic information in real time plus weather forecasts tells you exactly what you need to know right when you need it. Map data come pre-installed, and you have lifelong free updates.

Route planning and guidance, navigation announcements:
    • Free BaseCamp route planning software:
     Download from Garmin.com/basecamp
 User-friendly software for creating routes, waypoints and tracks on the computer
 Note: several routeing options (such as curvy roads, avoid main roads) are only available with the Navigator and not on the computer
    • Advanced route planning and guidance: new trip technology with via points and shaping points for planning even longer and more detailed motorcycling trips:
 A trip can consist of up to 30 routes (stages of the overall trip). Each route has one via point and up to 125 shaping points (shaping points are for defining the route without being advised of arrival at interim destinations during navigation).
 The trip is computed by computing the individual routes (stages). This makes both computation and route guidance faster and it allows individual stages to be skipped.
    • Many routeing options can be selected and combined: curvy roads, avoid motorways and/or main roads, round trip, etc.
    • Avoidance of main roads (new with Navigator VI)
 Allows automatic avoidance of main roads during routeing and route calculation. In combination with the already existing avoidance of motorways, streets that are even better suited for motorcycle riding are selected.
    • New feature: round trip (new with Navigator VI)
 Allows you to create a route with identical start and destination with a specified duration.
    • "Skip" feature
 Skips the next waypoint on the active route
 Selectable only when a route is active and the next waypoint is not the destination
    • Compatible with Custom Maps:
 Generate own map data from paper or electronic maps for uploading to the navigation system.
 Precision georeferencing (e.g. with Google Earth) and optimum viewing on the navigation system
    • Large compass display for off-road navigation
    • TTS navigation announcements with naming of city/town and street names
    • TTS navigation announcements, in part with Natural Guidance:
 Description of route with exact description of the surroundings, using points of orientation such as traffic lights, road signs, bridges and buildings).
 Announcements such as "turn left in 100 metres" are replaced by "turn left just short of the yellow church".
 Not available in all languages, not for all countries

    Other functions
    • Only in combination with navigation preparation: "My Motorcycle" pages as well as warnings and status reports
 Well known from the Navigator V, detailed description, see product information about the Navigator V
    • Optional smartphone link with congestion information in real time, up-to-the-minute weather forecast and more
 Well known from the Navigator V, detailed description, see product information about the Navigator V
    • Wireless data exchange (e.g. routes, tracks, waypoints) via Bluetooth between 2 Navigators:
 Between Navigator VI and Navigator VI: no restriction
 Between Navigator V and Navigator VI: with restriction (when transferring the route, the route will be recalculated).
The calculation algorithms of the routing options differ between the Navigator V and Navigator VI (except for "shortest time" and "shortest route"); for this reason, the calculated routes can differ greatly from the originally transferred route.
    • Music streaming from smartphone
 Allows you to listen to music stored on your smartphone through the Navigator VI
 Music playback from the smartphone is started and stopped via the Navigator VI
 Playback of music titles on Android smartphones occurs in the order in which they are stored on the smartphone; on iOSsmartphones, additional playlists can be called up.
    • Control of a compatible "action cam" directly via the Navigator
