Varadero is done and running sweet.
Now I have a bee in my bonnet for Honda 50's I have one for a while but never did anything with it.
I went at it a couple of weeks ago I was going to start it, pump up the tyres and that's it.
I have to many projects as is.
Couldn't do it, the honda is now scattered in bits.
Its a good bike, I had a look inside the engine and its in fine fettle.
I will lap in the valves and re-gasket everything.
Frame is solid but was manky under the rear fender.
I need a bigger sandblaster to clean it up and see where i have to TIG weld patches.

A fine excuse for a spin, If I am going across the Country I try to group jobs.
I did a fine early morning loop from Galway to Mullingar to meet a guy selling a genuine honda CB fairing.
He has been holding it for me for a while.
Should work nice on one of my CBX1000.
Mode of transport was Cadillac with a rotten backbox and tailpipe, it's still quiet but I am afraid it might drop off. It,s the original exhaust 38 years and counting.

Next stop was: souhan.ie
These guy.s are great proper petrol heads, This is a big operation and they will make any exhaust for anyone.
They crafted a lovely back end exhaust section.

Next stop was: Tallaght Powder Coating.
I can get PC done in Galway but I like these guy's.
The Cadillac is rumbeling , noisier then before. It's not the right thing for this totally silent driving experience.
But it's a V8 rumble and I like it.
I pop in and sandblast the frame, these guy's have the mother of sandblasters and they let me do it myself.
Then on to: Classic bikes and bits and i see this: Honda 90. hmm, I like that.
Anyway on up to Duffy Motorrad for ACF and a chat with the guy,s
Fec, that reminds me. I have 3 tolls to pay.

Tolls paid, 3 of the fec,ers, that M50 !!
A bit of grub and retail therapy: http://www.charlestowncentre.ie next to Duffy's
Float back to Galway.

Next day:
Job done !! or is it? still thinking about that C90. A quick browse of Done Deal and I see a new add, C90 unfinished project.
Call is made, deal is done, tell Mary to get her coat we are off to buy a bike.
Where is it? on the WAW West of Tarbert. yes, yes I am up for that.

It's great travelling in the Cadillac most drivers give you extra consideration.
Usually stops involve a chat with someone.
This 79 Seville is no land yacht, it will glide happily at 80 and handles acceptably. It absolutely floats, not single rattle or bump.

Weather is a bit wild and woolly but OK.
If you like buns, this is the pitstop: Talty's Lissycasey a must I don't know of any other gas station with so many buns.

The C90 is nice perfect for me, I prefer to put it together myself properly.
It's all painted and plenty of new parts. We crammed everything into the Cadillac and headed back.
As common in Ireland, the weather settled and the glide home was nice.

The rebuild begins.

Can I assume you are on the c90club.co.uk forum

I recently joined. There is a massive Honda Cub interest in Ireland.
I remember last year on the Ring of Kerry, there was a Cub rally and they all were having such fun.
The Honda 50 has a unique place in Irish motoring history.
First everyone used Raleigh pushbikes, and then the Hondas came and they were the main form of transport for many people.

You have got to love Ed March.
His hobby is taking the piss out of R1200GS Adventure riders.
I like his tee shirt: "YOUR LUGGAGE COST HOW MUCH?"

A good read Pat.
Waiting for more.

First thing i did was strip everything down and start the proper assembly.
I had a look inside the engine and it is in nice condition.
I fixed the butchered exhaust stud holes and TIG welded some broken mounts on the Stator plate.
Ground The valves and re-gasket everything.
It is running sweet.
Special tools made as required.

I couldn't resist a first ride up and down the workshop.

The red painted panels were flawless but the mechanical bits were glued together with a very tough baked enamel.
Some people should be kept away from mechanical stuff.

http://www.moransmotorcycles.com/

The worlds most efficient motorcycle shop.
I had a second look at the wheels and decided to get new rims.
Angle grinded out the hubs and Mornans got the Monday morning vial courier and had them laced and back out same day. They stock everything for the Cubs.

Nifty Fifty, Charity 4 hour endurance , Mondello Park.
We enjoy a weekend camped in the paddock, there was a few teams over from the UK.
This race is taken very seriously by the major teams.
Classes are:
Standard and modified, The modified bikes are quick.
