I thought Velox, 1956. Maybe I need to cheat and Google.

    Edit.

Cheated, maybe the right model but probably earlier than '56

I see the fires in Christchurch have enlarged. Trust Mike is safe and well and on the road out of town.

Splendid write-ups Mike, enjoy your trip. The damage to the RNZAF Museum Vampire was a result of one of the mounting wires snapping during the earthquake, allowing the aircraft to strike a concrete pillar. The aircraft will remain unrepaired as a reminder of the quake.

    When in Invercargill

Hope you missed the "big BBQ" just outside Christchurch. It got a little out of hand but I think it is now under control.
Just a few pointers. While passing thru Invercargill you should stop in to the local hardware store. It's a little different than your're usual Wicks, including Burt Munro's bike from Worlds Fastest Indian fame.
If the weather is favorable then the Catlins are well worth riding thru. We recently stayed a night at Pounawea Grove by Owaka. Very quiet for a chillax with your own thoughts.
Yes the centre of Queenstown is $$$$ but you could try just a little further out in Frankton.
Again if the weather is on your side the the road into the Milford Sounds is a ripper. Te Anau - Milford - Queenstown is a solid ride on fab roads.
    I am enjoying your report.
