Yes its yet another aux wiring thread, please do try and control your excitement.

Today's problem is about getting 2 sets of aux lights working via 2 relays triggered by an on/off/on switch. I would like to have the smaller set only come on when the switch is in position 1, and both sets come on when the switch is in position 2. I would like to have them completely independently controlled by the switch, not when main beam comes on etc.

Issue is triggering both relays from switch position 2, if i connect to terminal 86 on both relays from this feed i cant see how to then isolate the feed from switch position 1 to just the one relay. Theres likely another way to do this, and simpler, but I am not a plumber.

Any thoughts?

You can have one relay wired from D+ on the alternator to terminal 86 so that the lights only come on once the engine is running, the other relay can be wired to a switch if you like and use a tap from the tail light or side light feed to terminal 86, that way the relays are separate and have separate functions.
You can have it as complicated as you want :D

cheers mspenz want both powered from aux power panel - have been told a diode will fix my issue so will go down that route

Not sure how far along you are in your project, but I can highly recommend the PDM60. It makes what you're doing a doddle. Admittedly they are a tad expensive but that's relative I guess.

As Mike says, it can be as complicated as you like. Saying that, your intentions sound straightforward enough

slipperyeel the pdm60 looks a nice bit of kit but i've got most of what i need and my setup will be simple really. i have a centech aux power panel already and all the lights, switches, wire and connectors. just need to get it right on paper and a free afternoon. really just the lights i want to run and the centech has spare outputs for heated clothes, electronics etc so fine for my needs
