Looks like revamped 800 GS will be 850 GS

The cynic in me notices that most current accessories for the 800 won't fit this version - including exhaust specific panniers - good news for those of us sticking with the current models for a while!! Lots of cheap farkles...

nuda engine has the chain on the other side, could be a new motor from Rotax

What's a nuda engine then?
Alan R

Few years ago BMW owned Swedish bike company Husqvarna. During that time Husqvarna made a 'loud&proud' thing called a Nuda 900R based on the F800GS frame and engine. They bored and stroked the engine so it was 900cc and kicked out 105bhp. It would be good to think that Motorrad have seen the light and put that engine in the new F???GS, but I doubt it. Particularly as the Nuda engine, as has been said, is the same as the current 800 with the drive-chain on the right.

The future?

No doubt the new bike will have multiple modes for power, traction control, ABS and suspension. Been there with the R1200GSLC and found these no real use at all, just a future maintenance nightmare as they start to go wrong (Mine did at 18 months old). I realise BMW need to fit these to satisfy magazine road testers but the real way to compete with a £14000 trail bike is to make a good £7500 trail bike, well set up and robust enough for dozens of years of reliable use. Easy DIY servicing and cheap parts would be a real bonus.
It is possible, read this review of a £2499 WK400 http://overlandmag.com/features/wk400-trail-review/ , its not quite there yet but its the way Ill be going. It will fall apart you say, Chinese bikes are crap you think. Well I know people with them and they are not much worse than BMWs and the corrosion seems to be much less.
