Test rode a 1290 SA S today

I was gonna say!:D

What's a review of the SA T doing in our SA S thread!:rob:blast:p

"Far more Exclusive"

'It's not a GS"

Both good reasons in my book

They have a point about the headlight - I added Clearwater Darlas and night becomes day.

The fuel gauge point is based on a few which had problems but mine has always been fine. I always use the trip meter on my bikes anyway so would hardly regard that as a major issue.

They are right about the fun bit and after my daily commute I always feel glad I bought the KTM

If I just raise the headlight up a bit I find it perfectly acceptable.

Had 2 and both set miles too low at the factory. Makes the headlight seem far worse than it is.

Yup, same here, properly set up there's no issue :)

But, I then had some money burning a hole and fitted a pair of Cyclops bulbs ~ bloody hell they're good :bounce1

snap, fitted cyclops to my 1190 but had to lower headlight all the way to avoid annoying cars.

Rode the '17 GS today and it was no comparison - the GS was miles better (sorry everyone!). It felt so light, went well, cornered brilliantly and the GSAP was excellent (if a bit clunky between 2-3 when not full throttle). Need to get the missus on the back now before making a final decision, but very close to buying a Rallye Sport!

Well we are all different and look for different things in a bike! Good luck with your choice mate.

oh please ! :jes

Maybe there was something wrong with the KTM? Not like I'm biased here - I've never owned either brand of bike and you can only go on what you feel. Of course the KTM is much quicker but I don't want a bike like that. If I did, I'd buy a sports bike.

Rest assured it only has 120 bhp so nothing like a sports bike.

I think the KTM fully fuelled / oiled / watered is still lighter than the BMW even though they measure the GS without oil / water / fuel / wheel / brakes / engine etc.

I can appreciate how easy the GS is to ride, and I suspect Mrs Cheese will love the lack of power and excitement even more, and for leisurely two-up cruising it is probably is as good as anything else out there....

....but not quite as good as my Vauxhall Astra that beats it on fuel consumption, load carrying, range, comfort, weather protection and is as exciting.

So witty !

Please report back to us in three years time to tell us how bad the corrosion is.

I'd say for you to report back in three years when the electronics have failed on your SA S. But it will be a lot sooner than that ;)

Let me know when your alternator has failed, engine out job, and your forks have broken off!
Or you have fallen asleep at the handlebars :)

Mates F800GSA....3600 miles and both hubs and left engine casing corrosion bubbling up under the paint. He has one of those looking glum faces right now. :blast

Mine has 7000 on it and doesn't have a single bit of corrosion. Luck of the draw I guess.
