Well all back together, did a 50 mile shakedown ride & the rear rack decided to drop down / back a few inches. So had to sort that & fitted a brace under the grab rail & bought the rack nearly to the back of the bike..

Piccy 1 - rack in new position
Piccy 2 - in first position
Piccy 3 rack & top box dropped back / down after 50 miles...

Its a hepco Becker top box & it locks to one of thier racks & you have to have a bit sticking out at the back so you can get it on / off the bike...

    As in the piccy

So you can't go any further forward unless you don't use thier locking mount /drill holes in it & mount directly onto bike rack.
    Which I'm certainly not doing...

Well Sunday I thought a Trip to West Bay in Dorsetshire was on the cards.
Got a far as the village of the Dorset steam fair at Child Okeford & the rear tyre went flat straight away, luckily I was in traffic.
It only looked like a pin hole, so got air pump out and pumped it up, that lasted about 7 mins & had to pump up again.
After about 3 pump ups I found a screw & screwed that in which then lasted asbout 15 mins.
As I was entering Salisbury I heard a great big bang but fealt nothing, so carried on. When I managed to limp home I took both panniers of & noticed a gurt split in the rear tyre.
    Piccy 1

    Another life gone methinks..

Hi Ash, enjoying your thread and the Spada looks great. Not sure about the rack - seems that it suffers from some basic engineering shortcomings.

I had a Spada 1 many years ago which was a brilliant bike and I wish I still had it. I always rate comfort above performance and the Spada was great for 800 mile days.

When all the lights are on the volt meter is only just over 12v so anything I can do to use less power is good.
    Much brighter in the dark..

    Very pleased Steve.
I knew ( hoped ) it was a good un underneath the years of grime.

Just hope it's reliable, takes me to the Guzzi factory & back in early September.
Nothing more I could of done, other than a engine strip but at 35k miles it should be OK...

These old Guzzies were built properly like the early BMW's
IE thick tubes, thick paint, good components - Brembo, Bosch, Dell'Orto carbs, Koni shocks, Termignoni / Lafranconi exhausts & plenty of Stainless / Alloy / Chrome etc...

    Fingers crossed...
