Can anybody tell me if this is right when I got the bike a couple of years ago it shown on the dash dwa battery icon ,so quick internet search and changed the battery in the alarm unit ,and the icon went away. the alarm seems only to want to set if the bike has just been turned off ,it always unsets ok other bike alarms I have had just turn on and off with press of the button with no time limit. where the Bmw DWA alarms just and expensive extra and not very good .

Yes that's the way the factory alarm works.
You can set it to arm when you switch off the bike without using the fob if you like.
Download the manual for all the various options and how to set them.

After hearing how crap mine sounds, Ive never used it. Totally pointless tat IMO but at east its not left me stranded like aftermarket arms generally do.
