Who on here

What do you mean "I could be swayed", I think you mean "I might be allowed"

The KTM is much faster, much lighter, handles better, has a lot more low down / mid range / top end power, looks better and is far more trendy than the common as muck GS, but YOU only want one if SHE finds it more comfortable.

Grow a pair and by the KTM :thumb And no getting her a new kitchen to make the deal happen either.

I don’t want to waste money two ‘Adventure’ bikes, if I buy a third new bike I rather get something completely different - the GS is a ‘work horse’ used almost daily, so the KTM has to be at least as good in every way in order to replace it, is it?

If it ain’t as comfy and/or there is too much heat from under the seat then it won’t be good enough to replace the GS, which as an all round ‘work horse’ is not perfect but better than anything else at the moment.

P.S. how much does the 1290 weigh when 75% fuelled?

P.P.S she is rich enough to buy her own kitchen

Depends what you want in a bike, but as you know, I’ve had loads of GS’s, and won’t be going back anytime soon. I’ve already sent the exhaust for my next bike off to be ceramic coated, ready.:D

1. Dunno - I think KTM measure fully wet, BMW may quote 75% fuelled, but negate to tell you they have removed the battery, oil, coolant, handlebars and wheels :blast

2. She must also be rich enough to buy you that 3rd bike of which you speak.

Having tried a couple of the latest GS Models I reckon (solo) my 1090 beats the GS in every way, as much low down grunt from its smaller engine and does not suffer from the huge flat spot the new GS Models seem to have.

Both times I have tried a GS I have ridden the 1190 to the test, and found the BMW quite underwhelming, the GS probably would be a bit more comfy for the passenger and I always like the telelever on my old GS, but the Semi Active setup on the new 1290 KTM's does a very good job of reducing dive and the Ergo seats are very comfy so the gap must of closed even further.

It seems to me you are trying to find excuses to keep your comfy old pair of slippers, we could all say the 1290 is much better (in fact I think we did) and you still won't believe us (and you don't)

A long test ride is a start, but it won't fully answer all your questions, but a change is good sometimes, I am sure BMW will still be able to find you nice GS if you don't like the KTM as much.

I commute on the 1090, the Mrs Tours on it, I tour on the 1190, both bikes do whatever is asked very well, and put a grin on our faces, neither got unacceptably hot on tour this year, and we had a lot of days over 30c.

So there goes the ride report on the Michelins then...............:blast

But to add why the boys club , you as a group pick on and cause threads to be shut by you blinkered bollox ..you really are a bunch of tossers on the tango side 🤗🤗🤗🤗

I am trying to convince her that KTMs aren’t that bad - her ex husband had lots of bikes, she liked all of them except the ‘horrible orange one’ :D

That would have been a Laverda and confirms she’s got no taste when it comes to motorbikes.

Have a look at the posts made by the KTM owners, then have a look at the posts made by some of the GS owners. You’ll find that the GS owners are the ones slagging off the KTM’s, not the other way round. Any comments made about the GS are documented facts. The comments about the KTM’s are just childish snipes.

You and CuntK have tried starting threads in here, or posting in other threads, and it’s backfired on you. It’s all a bit pathetic really.

Shouldn’t you be sending love notes to your friend from Norcal :nenau

It might come as a shock to you but most people who post in this sub forum are here because they like their bikes and just want to discuss them rather than brag about their latest toy or what they want to replace them with :tosser

What is the going rate for a service for the 1290? Just trying to gauge the difference if any between the 6k service interval and the longer interval for the KTM. I do about 8k per year on a bike. A big chunk of that is on the continent.

Never mind the cash, you get to ride better loan bikes at a KTM dealer :D
