Stupid question alert - MZ ETZ 251

MZ won't start - kicked it till my leg hurt yesterday and sulked all through the MotoGP (Me, it didn't give a feck)

Now - will a flat battery stop it starting? It's kick start only etc etc but when I plugged my trickle charger in it didn't even register as 25% charged.

This may well be obvious but I'm a child of the electric button - please help

Can't speak from experience re your MZ but there certainly are some bikes which won't kick start with a flat battery.
Charge the battery - you'll soon find out.

Hmmm. Think the 251s had electronic ignition. I would start with the battery though. The initial prob may simply have been a fouled plug so remove it, clean it and kick the engine over umpteen times with the fuel tap off. Get the battery up to charge (unless you need a new one of course) replace the plug and try again!

Thanks chaps - I did clean the plug (twice) and the fuel flow was fine. I'll sort the battery next..

Take the spark plug out and hold it on the end, the kick it over. You'll know if it's sparking then
