Lovely day out here, so I thought I'd get my trailer out and check it

The hubs appear to be sealed

I looked at the info on the Erde site and it says that the hubs/bearings are "sealed for life"

has anyone had a bearing go?

Yes, I had a bearing go on my way to Wales, luckily I always carry a set of spares. I now replace the bearings every 18 months, easy to do and relatively cheap.

No experience of the Erde hubs, but found this:

It would appear expensive to replace the hub for a bearing renewal?

Good practice to replace your hub bearings every 5yrs at least (cos the bearings cost shag-all, and collapse/seizure on a motorway will seriously spoil your day)

Al

I think a new hub, (sealed unit with bearing) for a Erde 450kg trailer is about £60 - including the bearing - worth buying one to carry with me

Just got a reply from Erde - new hubs are £76 + £12 delivery ........ I suppose not that cheap if you don't need one
