That is debatable, war is just part of the inevitable power politics.

How far back does one go in ‘remembering’? My children’s generation is already losing touch with this stuff and it is becoming nothing more than history to them. It should be taught as part of history in the hope that we can learn from the past (I wish) but there comes a time when we need to move on and we inevitably do.

I think if we are going to remember these poor bastards that died I think we should Rein-act a war scene . Not like a movie but real ie seeing people’s heads blown off and limbs flying through the air , let’s then see who really wants to to remember with all the pomp and circumstance that goes with it today . Let’s put these people in a real war scene and see if they would prefer to use their time to stop wars instead , and save the next poor bastard private a scene from hell as he lays there dying with both legs blown off . Old farts ?
I stood with some men and women in their 20s, 30s, 40s upwards at a remembrance service at Anglesey Race Track on Sunday. Some were not able to stand. Other with a variety of parts missing. Others with nothing visible but....
THEIR past is very recent and very real regardless of the reasoning for the war or conflict. They are still part of the 'young generation' and will always remember.
I am glad to know them.
