My 1150GSA is with me in Barcelona, however my contract has just been cancelled so i need to move it back to the UK. Unfortunately, it's developed a stalling issue in the last couple of weeks - stalls fairly frequently at idle, especially when rolling to a standstill. Hoping it will be cured with a service (I assume which will include a throttle body balance?)

I've found the local Motorrad dealer but you know how it is... Anyone know any reputable 1150 oil head specialists? The bike is currently at El Prat airport.

Also just gonna look into having it shipped back - If anyone knows a reputable company for that?

Cheers all!

Try Jim Wright at mototransporter.co.uk. He shipped my bike from the uk to barcelona. Good price and great door to door service.:thumb2

As a temporary get home fix I'd just use the high idle lever to give you slightly higher revs.

Just re-read you post,
Seems like you're already doing this. Hmmm.

Thanks for the replies - id considered bringing the idle up but not convinced that's the issue - seems to stall just as I put the clutch in when coming to a standstill. Don't wanna attempt driving it home with a fault like this. I had the tank up to change the battery last week, noticed the air filter was disgusting so assume it's well overdue a service anyway - possibly I've dislodged something under the tank during the battery change?

Will investigate your suggestions Colm and Dragon, many thanks.

check the throttle cables are seated correctly. common issue after having the tank off:

As kenny has said, it sounds like the main coil sticks have failed.

Simple test to find pout... Pull off the lower secondary spark plug caps and see if the engine runs on just the main plugs.

PM 'the Spanish biker' although he is more frequently on ABR forum - he'll know a good mechanic in that area.

Quite often, the Tráfico patrol-bike guys take their bikes to a different service station than the authorised BMW one, 'cos the local authority likes reduced vehicle-service costs.

So why not go along the local Guardia Civil cuartel and ask there which garage they use. It'll be expert in maintaining and fixing oilhead boxer engines, 'cos the cops only fairly recently moved on from 1150RT bikes to the newer Chinese-componented 1200 bikes with the wet clutch and the shaft on the left.
