Bit of a long shot but you never know......................

The key went in to the ignition switch (1190R) this morning no probs but it was quite stiff to turn.

Coming home from work, again the key went in fine but needed a right proper wriggle and some brute force to get it to turn. I really didn't think it was gonna budge.

Sooooooo, before I pop into the workshop and take a lump hammer and chisel to it has anybody had similar and fixed it? I'm guessing I'm gonna need a new ignition switch :nenau

Andres If you can Find Fuchs Silkolene "Silkopen"

Its the dogs danglies at freeing up sticky locks

Its a heavily graphited lubricant spray 100% effective every time (also check in case you have someone trying to bugger off with your bike Bluuuuud !)

I've tried some Abus lock lube already but with no joy.........however, I'll try the Fuchs ~ I need some more penetrating oil stuff anyway so no worries if it doesn't work ~ cheers :)

I had similar with the S10 recently. I found some proper old spec gunk and used the key to work the lock tumblers as I trickled in the gunk. Left it a few minutes and then washed it out with a fine nozzle water hose and finally blasted compressed air through.

Now works just like a new lock.

Andes not to piss on your parade, but had the same thing with my old t max, tried all sorts of lubricants, lithium grease was the best but was advised it need a new barrel. Probem was I couldn’t just buy a barrel, it needed a whole new system, £1200 😪I hope Ktm are more mindful. And breathe

I think you’ll find it’s Hilltop’s fault for making it more powerful than a 1290. Devine retribution.

I drip a bit of ACF-50 in our locks now and again, probably better as a preventative measure than a fix to something already knackered, but worth a try as it is much better than the likes of WD40 for penetration and lubrication.

Well, success here too :)

Pretty much a whole can of Abus Lock Lube, left to soak over night then a blow out with compressed air and more lube this morning and it's almost as good as new. I'll have a proper go over the w/e when I have more time.

Simple solutions work for simple people and every bike I own has a normal graphite pencil rubbed on the keys to deposit dry graphite powder on the working parts regularly. It’s probably a bit late now but give it a try.
