The paint on the offside alloy cylinder head protector has blistered and come off what paint would be best to use on these parts

Remove both the cylinder head guards & get them powder coated...will last for ages :D

I painted mine with car body paint - it crinkled. :(

I had my frame finished in powder coat with a conductive zinc based primer. The black powder coat on the front subframe mounts have melted. Thankfully the base coat is ok and all other areas are ok.

I’m not saying ALL powder coat will struggle but you will need a high temperature version. You also need to be aware that magnesium can be warped at not especially high temperatures.

Having had problems with coating aluminium (gas bubbling and flaking) I would not have magnesium powder coated. It’s more fussy than ally.

We are told that Hammerite paint can handle the heat.

Hammerite silver smooth aerosol is a very good match I've done mine in the past and very pleased with the results.

I’ve raved a lot about powder coat and low temperature stove enamel. However I now believe it depends A LOT who does the job.
Work done by CJ Ward of Burton one Trent has lasted well. Even a corroded alloy rocker cover (not BMW) was fine.
Work done by a wheel refurb specialist, who also does new bike frames, has not been as durable. On alloy, originally corroded areas have come through even though the damage was not anything serious.
I would now go for paint (over zinc metal spray on steel) and choose very carefully who does alloy parts.
