Sunshine came softly through my window today.

Could have tripped out easy but the GS was outside and I had promised a Sussex by the Sea thread to jnrobert.

06:30 from our bedroom window

The previous photo was taken from a bridge above the A27. It's also known for people jumping off it.

But there's always something to spoil the view

I'm on the South Downs Way now and I catch something rising out of the valley

This track didn't lead anywhere except to locked gate. At least I had enough space to turn around ;)

Back down to Shoreham and the Ouse looking very Ouse-like in the sun.

A bit further along the coast back towards Brighton I found this in a not-so-dry dock. Not a great picture as it was into the sun (I couldn't get at it from the other side :()

And whilst I was down there I tried to pay Paul McCartney and Fatboy Slim a visit (they live next door to each other in the villas on the left) but they wouldn't answer the door. I guess they were probably having breakfast....

Fantastic :clap :clap :clap

Thanks jn... and now for some more.

This is looking west from Paul's place. Wonderfully bleak midwinter but rather pleasant and almost azure this morning

Any tour of Sussex should not miss out Brighton. Looking west towards the Palace Pier. Nobles Amusements bought the pier a few years ago and changed the name to Brighton Pier but Brightonians to a man (and woman, child and local press) still call it the Palace Pier.

Nobles opposed the redevelopment of the West Pier and local rumour has it that the burning of the West Pier was no accident.....

Further east along the coast road you'll find access to the undercliff walk. A car recently went over the cliff about here. As it's about 20 yards from the actual road there are questions about what happened. Inquest soon I believe.

Brighton Racecourse is one of the most spectacularly sited courses in the country (Goodwood is very impressive but the dominant position of Brighton gives it the edge imo - it's almost as if the horses are about to run over a cliff)

Next onn the route is Lewes and the area to the north of it. The south downs are in the distance. Doesn't really capture the height of the downs but pleasant enough in a landscapy way.
