LDT bike anyone?

When you build these how difficult is it to get registration documents and insurance . How do you describe it to insurance company?

Most of the time the base bike will have a v5 anyway,
This bike although has matching frame and engine numbers didn’t come with docs or reg number,so I’ll apply to Bmw to get proof of manufacturing date, then once it’s mot’d I can apply to the dvla for an age related plate.
If the bike was a total bitza it would prob have to have a Q plate
With regards to insurance you would need to get an agreed value to ensure a payout if it got stolen or smashed up,
Most insurance company’s will be fine with it as long as everything is declared etc
Much like insuring a restored bike, you just have to prove why it’s worth 3x times they’re market value

Rain stopped play today so I got a bit more done on the bike instead.
Fitted some nice high 613 bend renthals, these are about the highest renthal do,
I need to get some 25mm stainless bar to turn up some risers so ignore the washers:p

The bike will be fitted with a more modern koso dash,
It has all the idiot lights built in and also has multiple trip meters ,clock ,tachometer ,volt meter .also has the benefit of using an electronic gearbox pickup so it makes for a nice tidy installation.
I’ll fabricate a tidier Mount for it though ,

I have selected a nice low ratio bevel for it so that can be rebuilt over the next week or so.

I have had quite a few pm’s asking how much the finished bike will be,
I’m looking to sell it for £8.5 k fully commissioned and mot’d.
If you are interested, shout up and come to view the bike
The bike is a total one off and is only a few weeks from completion.
It would take me 6 to 10 months to get a similar build to this stage, given I don’t have any donor bikes.
A 25% deposit will secure the purchase .

That’s a good price for a one off very useable bike, the alternatives for an off-road capable Airhead can be very expensive...

Switch gear on,
And turned up some proper bar risers, the originals were rubber so the bars flexed all over the place:eek:
