Hi Guys

Trying to book accommodation for 3 nights 7th June in Fort William is proving difficult as no availability anywhere with twin room. I know a lot don't like the place but stayed last year and enjoyed it.

So any other suggestions of where to base for 3 nights. Like to be in that area as planning on doing a day in Skye and Applecross/loch Ness but don't want to end up in some shithole as I don't know the area that much.

As usual small town or village, as long as its got a pub to walk to and restaurant that's all we need.

Thanks

Fort Augustus is a good place to stay with easy access to the places you mention.

Corran Bunkhouse, 7 miles south of FW

Not really a bunkhouse

They have proper Twin rooms, with bedding and towels supplied with en-suite and TV, plus as much free tea & coffee you can drink

You will have to sort your own brekkie though

Pub next door or one the other side of Loch, 10 mins on the ferry - free for foot passengers

Lovely spot and cheap too

Did you try Myrtle Bank Guest House at FW?

The " West End hotel" just off the roundabout on the way is ok , not the most modern but clean ,functional , and the staff are friendly , on site bar and restaurant :thumb2

Fully booked apparently, as they all seem to be. Can't believe early June is so busy.

Have you tried Air BnB, seems to be a fair bit available for your dates. I suspect there are quite a few B & Bs on the A82 coming into FW from the south that aren't on the net. Might be worth going along on Streetview to get the names and give them a bell.

Or maybe a caravan at Glen Nevis campsite or one of the chalets at Lochy Holiday Park behind the school on the Mallaig road?

Otherwise Fort Augustus as suggested above...

We stay early May in the Calendonia ,it’s a shearungs hotel. It’s about a mile walk into the town , it’s sutuated on the main road in to FT Bill coming from Oban, opposite the loch . It’s cheap and cheerful, and a bit dated. But they normally have plenty of space .

What about the Roy Bridge bunkhouse / hotel about 15 minutes north of Fort William and just west of Spean Bridge? Head east from here along Laggan Loch and it's a great ride to Aviemore.

The sleeping car is quirky (and cheap). There's a kitchen area for making your own grub. Meals also available in the dining car or take a walk down to the two nearby hotels for good food and a drink. The Glenfinnan Hotel often has fiddlers / trad musicians.

Handy for rides over to Ardnamurchan or Mallaig / Skye.

Edit. Fully booked 7th and 8th June. :-(

Cheers Cooperman looks like Premier inn for us :D

Plenty of parking, pub adjacent, all you can eat average breakfast, McD's and Morrisons next door, easy walk into town.

Not the best rooms in the world but they work and you are in the middle of a great biking area.

Make sure you do the run to Mallaig. It's like being on a roller coaster on a bike.
