The starter on my 90,000 mile GS, plays up when hot. It spins but doesn't always "engage"
Strangely enough it never seems to happen when cold, but is becoming more frequent, sometimes taking a few goes before engaging and turning the engine over. It always starts fine when it does.
It's been "reconditioned" at least twice before I got, so have decided to treat it to a new starter.
Two questions,
1) Do you do anything to the new starter before fitting e.g. Dry lube on the shaft or owt ?
2) In view of the fact it's been apart twice before and the symptoms it's showing, would it be worth following the guide to fettling your starter motor that are posted elsewhere, or is my present starter ready for retirement ?
Cheers
