Having just broken one of my rear indicators when walking past my bike in the garage I am amazed at how easily they break....virtually no give in them.

Cost to replace £36. and a bit fiddly to remove the broken one as the wiring passes between the under tray so some dissassembly required to remove and fit a new one.

Not a fortune but I am now considering fitting guards, seen a couple on the market including the Wunderlich ones and some very cheap Chinese ones on Ebay.

Anyone got them ?...are they any good at actually protecting the indicators or just cosmetic ?

Opinions/photos appreciated.

I have the Wunderlich ones (LC Rallye) and they are decent, albeit wouldn’t hold up to a full on drop.

Thanks, to be honest wouldn't expect them to hold up from a full drop but to stop accidental breakage from a brush past.

100% on that Woody, they’re sturdy enough for sure.

Bad pic...

Same here have the Wunderlich on the front, and have actually bumped into them a few times, garage space is tight, or I need to lose weight, no problems at all, however for the rear not sure they fit if you have Vario panniers on, the space is really tight, give me 5 and I will take a few pictures.

Smogbob thanks I had not thought about pannier clearance I do have the vario panniers , pics would much appreciated as it is the back ones I really want to protect as these protrude more.

Few pics of the rear with Vario pannier on, it is a hard call, maybe someone has them on with Varios, it looks to me like the rear of the bracket will rub on the panniers, I have not bought the rear because Panniers give the protection I need, my problem was the front, and if you have a topbox on, hard to bump into the rear also.

I agree looks tight.
appreciate the photos.

I only really put the panniers on for trips so may not be too much trouble to remove them when I put the panniers on.

Give me 10 minutes I will take my front one off and put it on the rear with a pannier to be sure, :D

Trouble is, had you had guards on them, you might well have ripped your jacket or trousers causing more than £36 of damage. The answer surely lies in these indicators being flexibly mounted on rubber stalks as they are on many bikes - I couldn't believe it when I first discovered they were not on the GS.

Sea Dog, couldn't agree more first bike I have had without flexible indicators...daft design

Smogbob you are a gent, appreciate the effort on my behalf.

I will now go and order some.

Thanks all...great forum for advice this.

I put the chinese ones on front and rear, decent quality and no corrosion, normally buy branded stuff ,,saw them on here so had a look on eBay,
