Do I need the “hydraulic kit” for the Markus tank? He mentions about using the vacuum from the tank,

And Markus doesn’t do a switch anymore, anyone got spec or a link?

“Hydraulic system:

Electric pump
All hoses ready to connect
Fuel filter
t-splitter
hose mountings

120,- €
You can also use the vacuum of the main tank – means you don’t need this pump”

My tank came with an electronic switch, but I preferred to use a separate on/off switch mounted on the handlebar, so I removed the original soon after trying it. You can buy a fuel pump and filter for a lot less money than one from Markus and fuel hose is real cheap from eBay. The original plastic "T" piece that is used to insert into the short pipe line into the tank is fragile and I broke it trying to fit, so I purchased a brass "T" connector from eBay.

I doubt if all the fuel would transfer to the main tank by hydraulic means as the Markus tank is lower than the main. Also don't forget to fit a breather pipe to the reserve Markus tank and feed it all the way to end up behind the speedo cluster.

This is the switch I bought:

Brass T piece:

Fuel hose:

Fuel pump similar to the Markus supplied one:

Using the manual switch on the handlebar is easier to use than fumbling about trying to find the button on the electronic switch, plus when all the fuel has transferred, you can definately hear the difference from the fuel pump sound if you are stationary with the engine off.

Very helpful, thank you, :beerjug:

Hi very interesting,I m going to install one tank,I would try without the pump just by hydraulic, what do mean ‘’Also don't forget to fit a breather pipe to the reserve Markus tank and feed it all the way to end up behind the speedo cluster’’
On The Markus there is no breather ,the breather is include in the cap of the tank, with the hydraulic system you don’t have anymore breather in the oem tank ...the breather will be by the Markus cap is it a problem ??
Thank you.

Not sure if Markus has changed the design of the tank to include a breather, but on mine there is a breather pipe. You risk petrol spilling all over the back end of the bike if not fitted, don't ask me how I know this. :blast

Alternatively fit one of these:
